Kyle Utter is a painter based in Queens, NY. He received a BFA from Pratt institute in Painting in 2011 and an MFA in Studio Art from Hunter College in 2018. He's going to be an artist in residence at the Blue Mountain center in New York State in 2022.
"My painting process starts and proceeds intuitively. Moving fluidly between modes of painting, from gestural abstraction to fastidious naturalistic rendering, I build pictorial spaces using perspectival schema as an armature. Created in 2020 and 2021, this body of paintings reflects my preoccupation with both the perils of nationalism and the way White America perceives its own history."
