Spooky Couture - Spring/Summer 2020

S/S 2020 Spooky Couture

"Spooky Couture" is Jackson Wiederhoeft’s first full collection under his namesake label. He is a graduate of Parsons School of Design, where he won “Women’s Designer of the Year” in 2016 for his thesis collection, “The Dollies.” Pieces from this collection went on to be featured in publications like CR, V, and Vogue Hommes, worn by the likes of Rihanna, Aquaria, and Lil’ Kim.

From there he went on to design for Thom Browne for three years, where his work focused on the women’s runway collections. These years provided an opportunity to hone his craft, gaining a complete understanding of the design and execution of couture-level garments.

A fascination with theatre, dance, and the magic of live performance has always fueled Jackson’s work. Before pursuing a fashion career full time, he also studied costume design, which included an apprenticeship at Houston’s Alley Theatre, and working for Broadway designers like Gregg Barnes and Susan Hilferty. Within his own work, every look comes along with its own character, each unique in this faerie tale-esque, overdrawn universe. For his debut collection, the focus was not only to bring his own brand of buffoonery to life, but a chance to celebrate fashion within the context of live performance.
