Maybe I’m just like my Father
Gabrielle Randall, Maybe I’m just like my Father, 2020, Framed Inkjet Prints (diptych), 20x30"
Gabrielle Randall is an interdisciplinary Video Artist whose practice centers her ancestral intersections between pleasure, pain, grief, spirituality, comedy, vulnerability, adornment and misery. They appropriate images, sounds, and language rooted in Black American entertainment culture as tools to reveal the deep multiplicity of their Queer, Black, Femme experience. Her practice then confronts the cognitive dissonance as a result of these culminating identities – true and contradictory, both in harmony and in opposition.
