Culturally, Dollar Slice is a Middle Eastern (Yemenite) Jewish person, whose family history includes escape from oppression, as well as strict gender roles for women, which they have rejected.

Dollar Slice’s connection to Nature runs very deep, as they are a dedicated birder, whose time connecting with birds has led to conservation of natural spaces in New Jersey in connection with multiple nature preserves. Many of their prepared performances mirror natural phenomena, such as the movement of the sea, the life cycle of a flower, and human death.

Aside from performance art, Dollar Slice participates in conceptual fine art photography, acting, and food science.
