Michaela’s life’s mission is to care for and bless the Earth’s waters while preserving African-based spiritual systems, honoring her ancestral assignment to sing to and with Humpback Whales. Through these profound interactions, she births songs that aim to mend the shattered collective spirit of humanity and support the protection, recovery, and balance of our shared environment.

The in-progress film Shared Water chronicles Michaela’s extraordinary journey of whale whispering from the United States to Brazil. The story illustrates how Michaela recognized and deepened her calling to sing with the world and with life itself. Over decades, she has cultivated a profound relationship with the ocean and her elders. The documentary features interviews with two of Michaela’s esteemed elders in Brazil and plans to explore more voices from her community.
