Paul Simon, also known as notpaulsimon, is a Romanian-American artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. As a sculptor with a background in human biology and photography, Simon creates a fantastical world in which materialities are present and absent, both hiding in plain sight and as objects of the digital imaginary.
Born in Southern California and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Simon earned a Bachelor of Science in 2016 and an MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in 2019. His work has been exhibited at venues including Collar Works, Spring Break, Culture Lab, Untitled (Miami), Paradice Palase, Oped Space (Tokyo), and Wassaic Project. Featured in publications such as GUP, Garage, and Wired, Simon received the 2019 PDN Photography Award for his project "Genesis of Desire." He has held a residency at Wassaic Project and will be an Artist in Residence at Pilchuck Glass School in 2024.
