Sara Arno the founder and executive director of SoMad and an artist practicing photography, video, and music with a background in environmental studies and visual arts. Her art practice centers beauty, abundance and decay in this world.
Sara is the director and concept lead on projects throughout SoMad including Mad World and the Film Festival at the Farm, a two day showcase of environmental art and film at the height of harvest season in Rhinebeck, NY in 2019. She has been creating SoMad with her friends since they found the space in 2017 and began to secure and renovate it to use as an artist studio and event space. The activities have been evolving ever since, and the studio changes in some way every day. Some of her favorite events and shows at SoMad have been ActivationTV, (UN)FIXED, New Dream of Love, and the residency for Shimmer Shimmer. As a fourth generation New Yorker, she is dedicated to building an institution centered on person-to-person connection and creating new beautiful art.
