Winter in Pluto is an experimental musical film that tells the myth of Stone, a love goddess who lives in the clouds and controls all acts of love on earth through her television set. Stone is the daughter of the goddess Venus and carries on the tradition of reuniting all beings with their “missing half.” Things change in Stone’s world when she begins questioning her inherited myth; the myth of love that has guided us all for centuries! Stone’s rebellion brings on a winter of change and a summer of self-discovery.

Filmmakers Natalita and Riley Teahan began their creative partnership Mortal Self in New Orleans in the fall of 2016. Combining their respective training in movement, performance art, music, theater and design, they create worlds together. As collaborators, they are committed to making art that is a channel for the Divine, a process for healing, and a celebration of femininity and darkness. They work to remove barriers to expression by creating with what is abundant, in relationship to land and community.  Their chosen mediums are attention, prayer, body, and breath. Their multi-dimensional creations exist in both physical and digital space. Their first film "6: An Unbirth" won first place at The Ogden Museum of Louisiana's Contemporary Show. Their latest film Winter in Pluto, an experimental love myth, premiered in November 2022. They hope to inspire others to awaken to their power by returning to nature, to Mother, to Earth.

Live Performance by Natalita

Live Performance by Paris Alexander

Paris Alexander (they/them) is a multidisciplinary performance whose practices include but are not limited to drag, design, curation, and conjuring. Much of their work revolves around reviving the dead, and retrofuturism- looking back as a means to look forward. They have a strong pull towards fabulism and the absurd. With Voxigma Lo and Julie J, they produce and host Sylvester- a monthly all black experimental drag show that has run at Purgatory in Brooklyn for over two years. Since 2020, they have curated and directed La MaMa’s Squirts; an annual intergenerational queer performance festival that will take place at La MaMa’s club in early June. Paris was first featured at SoMad in The Black Beginning collaboration with LEGACY, Ars Nova and Starr Busby back in 2021.
