Nature is queer. It resists binaries, thrives in transformation, and teaches us shared becoming. Mad World 2025 invites us to see ourselves as part of this unruly ecology—not outside it. From Alice Austen’s radical lens to Dakota Gearhart’s coral futurisms and Zulu Padilla’s meditations on bird migration, the works on view reveal queerness as a natural force—fluid, collective, and alive.
SoMad's 3rd floor features a gallery space showcasing artworks that engage in conversations around the environment, nature and queerness. Our show features pieces by David Anaya Maya, Alice Austen, Dakota Gearhart, Amina Gingold, Institute of Queer Ecology, and Zulu Padilla with fine art available for purchase.
