Call for Artists and Curators

For this unique exhibition, a curator who applies to the open call will weave together works from the open call into a cohesive group show. If you are interested in showing as an artist as well as curating works to accompany yours, please also apply to be the curator in the separate application.

Artists should apply with new, finished artworks, ready to hang or display in a digital format. Artists will have access to printing facilities, projectors, pedestals, and monitors and will work directly with the curator to determine the optimal display of the work. Artists will be asked to participate in exhibition gallery hours and make appointments to bring interested parties to the gallery. SoMad will provide a stipend of $300 to the selected artists who participate in this show.

The Spring 2022 Open Call Exhibition will take place on the 3rd floor of 34 E 23rd Street and will run from June 17 - August 5, 2022. Artists will have the opportunity to perform and screen their artworks in the gallery space. The 3rd floor poses a unique opportunity for an exhibition as it is a raw gallery space in transition as SoMad prepares to renovate the floor into a production studio opening in 2023.
