Marianna Peragallo is a Brazilian-American artist. Her recent anthropomorphic sculptures re-imagine everyday objects that are designed for human consumption or disposal. She creates sculptures of garbage bags, plastic shopping bags, and rubber cleaning gloves, but make them humorously misbehave or subvert their assigned roles.

Peragallo has had solo exhibitions at Smith College (Northhampton, MA) in 2024, Here Arts (New York, NY) in 2023, and Winston’s (Los Angeles, CA) in 2022. Recent group exhibitions include Culture Object (New York, NY), Bravin Lee Gallery (New York, NY), Spring/Break Art Show in New York and LA, Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY), RegularNormal (New York, NY), Transmitter Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), and A.I.R. Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), among others. She participated in the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program from 2021-2022. Peragallo has attended residencies at Stove Works (Chattanooga, TN) in 2023, Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY) in 2019 and 2022, Mass MoCA’s Assets for Artists residency (North Adams, MA) in 2019, and the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony (Woodstock, NY) in 2014. Upcoming exhibitions include a two-person show at Cleo Gallery in Savannah, GA, a group show at the Torrance Museum of Art in Los Angeles, CA, and a solo show at Blah Blah Blah Gallery in Philadelphia, PA. She received a BFA from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, and an MFA from The School of Visual Arts, New York.
